Winemakers Notes
‘Razorback’ is a word that evokes images of rugged peaks, and a harsh, but beautiful, landscape. That’s definitely true of the vineyard that we have sourced this wine from, the Rocky Point Vineyard at the southern end of Bendigo. This is a beautiful and perilously steep site overlooking Lake Dunstan. The fruit was hand harvested on 17th April and brought to Auckland in a refrigerated truck and trailer unit. After ferment and MLF, the wine went to barrel until June 2017. Apart from topping, the wine was untouched during this time. The wine was bottled on 16th November 2017.

Tasting Notes
Colour: |
Deeply coloured for a Pinot Noir, this wine has a red/purple core and a rim. |
Bouquet: |
High toned floral notes, red cherries, Black Doris plums, hints of tamarillo and a lovely background of subtle oak. |
Palate: |
Full bodied for Pinot, with firm, yet fine grained tannins and masses of sweet fruit in the mid palate. |
Cellaring
Already approachable, but we expect this wine to develop for a number of years.

Independent reviewer’s comments
“The complex bouquet shows dark cherry, cranberry, smoked game, thyme and black olive aromas, followed by a beautifully weighted palate that offers excellent depth of flavour and intensity, while remaining elegant and firmly structured by plenty of polished tannins. Sweetly fruited and richly savoury at the same time, finishing persistent and engaging.” Sam Kim
