An unlikely, but thoroughly loveable assemblage of 29% Malbec, 26% Cabernet Franc, 25% Syrah and 20% Merlot from our Hawkes Bay vineyards. Most of the grapes were sourced from our Bridge Pa vineyard with a small amount of the Syrah from the Gimblett Gravels. All components were separately vinified and aged in barrel and then for a period of time in tanks before assemblage and bottling.
||The colours of the 2013 Hawkes Bay wines are superb. A deep core running out to a bright purple rim.
||Very Bordeaux like but with a delicious Rhonesque lift of black fruits and grilled meat along with a dash of pepper.
||A wine with great balance, fineness and finesse. The tannins are soft and round and there is just enough fruit sweetness to give the wine real length and focus.
Right for drinking now, & over the next year or so.
Rounded tannins and ripe berry flavours make this wine a great accompaniment to many meat dishes such as lamb, venison, beef and game. Many rich sauces go well with this wine, as will roast garlic and vegetables.
Suggested wine list description6
Masses of wild black fruits coupled with savoury hints and deliciously spicy oak.
