Fiano hails from Southern Italy and has a small and enthusiastic following here in New Zealand. This wine is grown in Doug and Delwyn Bell’s vineyard just outside of Gisborne city. The block was harvested on 3rd April (OK, it’s not a block – it’s just a single row) and yielded 650kg. The juice was fermented and aged in two old barrels and was bottled on 19th December 2017.

Tasting Notes
Colour:
Pale in the glass at bottling, but will slowly deepen with time.
Bouquet:
A delightful melange of citrus pith, honey and a touch of hazelnut.
Palate:
This is a clean and refreshing mid weight wine, backed with the savoury firmness that is so typical of Italian Fianos.
Cellaring: Already approachable, but will cellar happily into the medium term in a cool environment.
Food Matches: White meats, white sauces and pasta.
