Description
Winemakers Notes
Albariño hails from the North West of Spain and Northern Portugal. This wine was grown by Doug and Delwyn Bell in their vineyard just outside of Gisborne. The block was hand harvested on 24th March 2017. Tank fermentation was followed by a period of lees aging before bottling on 20th March 2018. This wine is based on free run juice from the Spanish ‘Mass Selection’ clone, with a couple of barrels of pressings blended in immediately pre-bottling to add an extra textural element.

Tasting Notes
Colour: |
At bottling the wine was very pale with light green tints. With time we expect that it will develop some pale gold hints. |
Bouquet: |
Pure and fresh, with hints of citrus and peach. |
Palate: |
Medium bodied and zesty. This wine has a brilliant acid line and this gives the palate real length. |
Cellaring
Thus far, our Albariños have been aging more slowly than we expected. The wine is delightful in its youth, but may well age beautifully into the medium term.
Food Matches
Perfect with seafood, chicken and paella
Independent Reviewer's Comment
“It's elegantly lifted on the nose showing apricot, golden apple, oatmeal and dried flower characters, followed by a nicely textured mouthfeel displaying juicy fruit flavours together with savoury nuances, finishing lingering and pleasingly dry.'" Sam Kim, Nov 2020
