Cuisine Magazine Names Reserve Syrah as its Top Wine

Our Reserve Hawkes Bay Syrah 2010 has topped the Cuisine magazine tasting with a Five Star rating and lavish praise from the tasting panel. It's back to back wins for Coopers Creek as in the last issue our SV Hawkes Bay "Chalk Ridge" Viognier 2011 beat off the competition to be ranked top in it's class. 

Both the Reserve Syrah and the SV Viognier are crafted from grapes grown on our Chalk Ridge Vineyard, a sharply sloping block near Havelock North that's a challenge to manage throughout the season, but a consistent producer of outstanding fruit. 

Here's what the Cuisine judges said about the Reserve Syrah: 
"The fragrances – dark roses, dried herbs – are pleasure-provoking; the still, dark, sweet fruit, showing a hint of black pepper and deftly seasoned with oak, is simply spellbinding. “À point” is how the French would describe the ripeness of this wine. “There are no sharp edges, and great flow and movement across the palate,” noted Rod Easthope. Ideal with venison in a rich, sweet sauce."
