'Single Barrel' SV Gisborne Fiano 2015

Southers Italian varietal finds a new home in NZ.
Winemakers Notes
On April Fools Bay 2015, Delwyn and Doug Bell told us that they had harvested their trial row of Fiano. On April 2, 2015, 330kg of Fiano arrived at Coopers Creek Vineyard. This indicated that they weren’t joking! We had enough to fill one barrel. This helped us come up with a name for this wine. It was fermented in this one barrel and remained there until 31/8/15. The wine was bottled on 2/9/15.

Analysis
Alc 13.5%
Acid 7.9 g/L
Res sugar 2.5 g/L

Tasting Notes
Colour: Pale in the glass at bottling, but will slowly deepen with time.
Bouquet: A delightful melange of citrus pith, honey and a touch of hazelnut.
Palate: This is a clean and refreshing mid weight wine, backed with the savoury firmness that is so typical of Italian Fianos.

Cellaring:  Already approachable, but will cellar happily into the medium term in a cool environment.

Food Matches: White meats, white sauces and pasta.
